Group work is a powerful and effective process which enables a small group of clients to work together with towards a more positive and optimistic future.
One of the main principles of group counselling is that meeting other people who have similar issues and hearing their stories lets people know that they are not alone. Issues such as bereavement or depression can make you feel isolated and as if you are facing the world alone.
Group therapy helps to overcome those feelings of isolation
Group sessions can be arranged where there is a large call for support for those with similar needs and may be connected with other settings such as schools, specialist schools, support groups, mental health trusts, charity groups and Dramatherapy student groups.
In the event that group sessions may be requested individuals would be offered individual assessments and where appropriate asked to complete a short questionnaire to establish their appropriateness for the group.
The number of sessions can be determined by the organisation requesting the group or can be decided dependant on the needs of the group.
